Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of disaster risk reduction and management programs on the community's resilience in Barangay Maniki. The study employed quantitative research utilizing a descriptive-correlational approach. A total of 185 residents were selected through stratified random sampling and participated by responding to survey instruments measuring DRRM and community resilience. The data were analyzed using mean and Pearson’s r correlation. Results showed that the levels of disaster risk reduction and management and community resilience were high. Findings further revealed that there was a significant relationship between disaster risk reduction and management and community resilience. Moreover, the results indicated that disaster risk reduction and management domains, such as risk communication and community engagement, significantly influenced community resilience. Finally, the study implied that the variables were significant in establishing the community resilience of residents. This study contributes empirical evidence on the importance of localized DRRM strategies in strengthening community resilience, emphasizing participatory approaches and effective information dissemination. Future research is recommended to employ longitudinal and mixed methods approaches, expand the scope to other communities, and examine additional factors such as socio-economic conditions and governance to further understand resilience development.
