EXPLORING THE ENGAGEMENT OF CITY GOVERNMENT ON YOUTH ORGANIZATIONS: THE CASE OF PANABO CITY
Keywords:

This study discusses the partnership between the city government and youth groups in Panabo City with emphasis on how the interaction between both contributes to civic turnout and enhances local governance. Adopting a qualitative single case study method, we collected the data by using open-ended questions whereby the youth leaders would give written accounts courtesy of their lived experiences and participation with the local government. Eight (8) informants took part in the study, and they presented useful information that has enabled one to get a more in-depth view of the youth-government collaboration. The results showed that there are twelve major themes of both enabling factors and structural problems. Moreover, the research highlights the opportunity of the institutionalization of the inclusive governance systems that can identify and empower youth as critical stakeholders in the local decision-making and community growth, outlining the necessity of the long-term assistance to ensure the full potential of youth and consequent development effects.
